Project Information
The aims of the Cross Reference Project are to help students (in schools and in higher education) get the most out of English literature and do well in their exams.
Xref-it.info provides a one-stop resource, with everything students need to improve their grades, so that they can make sense of the details and the big picture.
Text in context
- Xref-it.info places texts in their contexts. To understand exam texts, as well as meet the assessment objectives laid down by QCA and other educational bodies, readers need to appreciate the context in which the works were created
- Xref-it.info helps students make the connections between texts and what their writers believed and experienced.
The Cross Reference Project also seeks to equip teachers in understanding and communicating the worldview which prevailed in British culture.
The Project is being developed in response to concerns expressed by English Literature teachers in schools and Higher Education, advisors, inspectors and examiners about the difficulties experienced by many students in understanding the cultural context of texts.
