Terms of use of the Xref-it.info site by registered users
This page (together with the documents referred to on it) tells you the terms of use on which you may make use of our website www.xef-it.info (the Site), as a registered user. Please read these terms of use carefully before you start to use the site. By registering to use the Site, you indicate that you accept these terms of use and that you agree to abide by them. If you do not agree to these terms of use, please refrain from using the Site.
Information about us
The Site is operated as the Cross Reference Project by The Stapleford Centre (the Centre). The Centre is a private company limited by guarantee, registered in England and Wales under company number 3371977 whose registered office is situated at The Stapleford Centre, The Old Lace Mill, Frederick Road, Stapleford, Nottingham NG9 8FN and is also registered as a charity. The Centre’s main trading address is at its registered office and its VAT number is 695 1265 12.
Accessing the site
Apart from the Home Page, access to the Site is restricted to registered individual users and individuals permitted to use the site by registered institutions. We reserve the right to withdraw or amend the service we provide on the Site without notice (see below). The Centre will not be liable if for any reason the Site is unavailable at any time or for any period.
Registered individual users and individuals permitted to use the Site by registered institutions are provided with a user identification code and password and may be provided with other information as part of our security procedures. You must treat such information as confidential, and you must not disclose it to any third party. The Centre has the right to disable any user identification code or password, whether chosen by you or allocated by us, at any time, if in our opinion you have failed to comply with any of the provisions of these terms of use.
You are responsible for making all arrangements necessary for you to have access to the Site. You are also responsible for the actions of all persons who access the Site through your internet connection or using your logon details. If when you are logged in another attempt is made to log in using the same user name and password these terms will be deemed to have been breached. On the first occasion that this occurs a warning will be sent to you. On any further occasion we may suspend your use of the Site. Persistent violations will result in your right to use the Site being terminated without refund of your subscription.
Intellectual property rights
The Centre is the owner or the licensee of all intellectual property rights in the Site and in the material published on it. Those works are protected by copyright laws and treaties around the world. All such rights are reserved.
You may print off one copy, and may download extracts, of any individual page(s) from the Site for your personal reference. You may not copy any part of the Site to any other server or location or pass copies of any materials on the Site to third parties and any such action will be treated as a breach of copyright.
You must not modify the paper or digital copies of any materials you have printed off or downloaded in any way, and you must not use any illustrations, photographs, video or audio sequences or any graphics separately from any accompanying text.
You must not pass off material from the Site as your own work. Our status (and that of any identified contributors) as the authors of materials on the Site must always be acknowledged.
You must not incorporate any part of materials on the Site in any work created by you (other than by way of quotation of not more than 200 words with the source of the quotation duly acknowledged).
You must not use any part of the materials on the Site for commercial purposes.
If you print off, copy or download any part of the Site in breach of these terms of use, your right to use the Site will cease immediately and you must, at our option, return or destroy any copies of the materials you have made.
Reliance on information posted
Whilst the Centre takes all reasonable endeavours to ensure the accuracy of the contents of the Site, the contents may reflect the individual views of contributors on matters that are open to different interpretations. The Centre therefore disclaim all liability and responsibility arising from any reliance placed on such materials by any visitor to the Site, or by anyone who may be informed of any of its contents.
The site changes regularly
The Centre aims to update the Site regularly, and may change the content at any time. If the need arises, we may suspend access to the Site, or close it indefinitely. We will use our reasonable endeavours to keep the Site up to date but any of the material on the Site may be out of date at any given time.
Our liability
The material displayed on the Site is provided without any legal guarantees, conditions or warranties as to its accuracy. To the extent permitted by law, we and third parties connected to us hereby expressly exclude:

Information about you and your visits to the Site
The Centre holds information about you to process payment of your subscription and record your use of the Site. By using the Site, you consent to such processing and you warrant that all data provided by you is accurate. We will not pass any personal data about you to any third party other than to any person or company that may take over the operation of the Site from the Centre.
Viruses, hacking and other offences
You must not misuse the Site by knowingly introducing viruses, trojans, worms, logic bombs or other material which is malicious or technologically harmful. You must not attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Site, the server on which the Site is stored or any server, computer or database connected to the Site. You must not attack the Site via a denial-of-service attack or a distributed denial-of service attack.
By breaching this provision, you would commit a criminal offence under the Computer Misuse Act 1990. The Centre will report any such breach to the relevant law enforcement authorities and we will co-operate with those authorities by disclosing your identity to them. In the event of such a breach, your right to use the Site will cease immediately.
The Centre will not be liable for any loss or damage caused by a distributed denial-of-service attack, viruses or other technologically harmful material that may infect your computer equipment, computer programs, data or other proprietary material due to your use of the Site or to your downloading of any material posted on it, or on any website linked to it.
Linking to the Site
You may link to our home page, provided you do so in a way that is fair and legal and does not damage our reputation or take advantage of it, but you must not establish a link in such a way as to suggest any form of association, approval or endorsement on our part where none exists.
You must not establish a link from any website that is not owned by you.
The Site must not be framed on any other site, nor may you create a link to any part of the Site other than the home page. The Centre reserve the right to withdraw linking permission without notice. The website from which you are linking must be one that is compatible with the ethos of the Centre and not unsuitable for viewing by persons under the age of 18.

Where the Site contains links to other sites and resources provided by third parties, these links are provided for your information only. Suspension and termination
We may, in our absolute discretion, terminate or suspend your right to use the Site at any time, with or without notice, for any reason including, without prejudice to the generality of the foregoing, breach by you of these terms of use, abuse of the Site, any wasting of staff time or any other activity that may interfere with or otherwise affect the use of the Site by others.
Jurisdiction and applicable law
The English courts will have exclusive jurisdiction over any claim arising from, or related to, a visit to the Site although we retain the right to bring proceedings against you for breach of these conditions in your country of residence or any other relevant country. These terms of use are governed by English law.
Variations
The Centre may revise these terms of use at any time by amending this page. You are expected to check this page from time to time to take notice of any changes we have made, as they are binding on you. Some of the provisions contained in these terms of use may also be superseded by provisions or notices published elsewhere on the Site.
